User Codes are a long-standing part of Epicor's ERPs. They're ideal for storing lists and values that need to be referred to anywhere in the system.

At META eight we often recommend that they're used to keep, for example, keys needed for connection to external systems. But in most cases you don't want those keys visible to just anybody. That's why we've created a simple add-on that encrypts them in the database, while making them just as easy to manage as if they weren't.

And of course it's useful for anything that needs a bit of extra protection. It's not meant for industrial security, but sometimes a lock on the filing cabinet is a help.

What's included

For maximum compatibility, the components are included individually within a zip download file, with instructions on how to load and use them.

It relies on two custom fields, an Epicor Function library and a set of BPMs, with screen customisations provided so you can use the custom fields.

All provided free of charge to use at your own risk, and all components are inspectable.

How to use it

Once installed and active, most users won't see any difference. But if you create matching pairs of named Security Groups and Code Types, users in the specific Security Groups are able to add, view and edit encrypted User Codes. Other users will see the encrypted values, or a mask if that option is selected.

The README file in the download has fuller instructions.

Requirements

Works on any version of Epicor Kinetic, cloud or on-premise, and late versions of E10 with the Epicor Functions in the system.
